Our History

In the early years, the association was officially named “The Madras Law Clerks’ Association, Madras.” Over time, with the collective efforts of our General Body and leaders, it was renamed the “Tamil Nadu Advocates Clerks Association,” representing the broader scope and aspirations of our community.

About us

The Tamil Nadu Advocates’ Clerks Association (TNACA) at High Court Buildings, Chennai – 104, formerly known as “The Madras Law Clerks’ Association, Madras,” is a historic organization established in 1913. Initially registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860 in Registered No.89 of 1968, the association has evolved over the years to reflect the changing landscape of the legal profession and the needs of its members.

Our Legacy

The Madras Law Clerk Association was established in 1913 and later renamed the Tamil Nadu Advocates’ Clerks Association in 2004. Officially registered in 1968, our association has been dedicated to protecting the rights and welfare of advocate clerks across Tamil Nadu.

Key Milestones

  • 1990 – Submitted a representation to the Tamil Nadu Government for the Advocate Clerks’ Welfare Fund.
  • 1993 – Statewide agitations led to then Chief Minister Kalaignar Karunanidhi passing a Government Order (GO) in favor of advocate clerks.
